With the new school year quickly approaching all I can think about is trying to get as organized as possible to make sure I have every tool I need to be absolutely successful. One of the many things I'm trying to do right now is getting my room organized so that I can easily grab outfits, projects, and books from easy to find places. I always feel at my best when I know my home is as organized as my calendar. It makes everything run as smoothly as possible. Then there is no hair pulling trying to find the paper that's due in 45 minutes or the other Doc Marten.
I think every student should also lay out goals for themselves for the new school year. Not goals like "I want straight A's." or "I want to get an A on my Midterm." Though those are amazing goals and we should all be trying for those, but I'm talking about more attainable goals. Ones that you have total jurisdiction over. Here are a couple of mine:
1. Make it to every class on time. With the only exception of weather.
I am famous for being late everywhere. Literally. EVERYWHERE. The running joke in high school was that I'd probably be late to my own funeral. Also I live in Idaho and anyone who has been here or lives here knows that the weather is practically bipolar.
2. Say "No". As simple as that.
No. In the past I was always known for taking on way too many tasks that end up interfering with my academics, but I refuse to do that to myself this year. Though am I the President of a club on campus I feel that those duties can be easily time managed, and that any other extra task can be given to any other willing member of the club. I will say that I am a slight perfectionist when it comes down to it and I like to oversee EVERYTHING.
I believe the beginning of a new school year no matter what age is the beginning of a brand new chapter, not book, but a chapter in the life of You. A completely blank slate to which you can fill the pages with whatever you want to. It's the chance to become a better You; to get one step closer to who you are. It's your life, darling, live it how you choose.
